Arrowhead-Weston is the answer to load growth, reliability issues

In today’s world, technology runs our homes, businesses, schools and hospitals in ways we never imagined just a few years ago. In fact, electric usage in Wisconsin is growing at a rate of 3 percent each year. The Arrowhead-Weston Transmission Line will help ensure that Wisconsin people and businesses have the power they need when they need it.

Arrowhead-Weston is a 220-mile transmission line connecting Duluth, Minn., with Wausau, Wis. The new line accommodates electric load growth in northern Wisconsin and improves reliability of the electric transmission system in the region. According to a study issued in 2002 by the US Department of Energy, Wisconsin’s transmission system has one of the most congested interfaces in the country.

The Arrowhead-Weston line adds an important element to Wisconsin’s transmission infrastructure.
